Forest Bathing During Advent
The Advent season has a special magic of its own: the joyful anticipation of Christmas, festively decorated streets, Christmas markets, and the familiar scents of cinnamon, oranges, mulled wine, and gingerbread lingering in the air. And yet, the weeks before Christmas are often hectic. Between errands, holiday gatherings, and year-end demands at work, we often forget to do something good for ourselves.
In the forest, however, a deep calm has settled in. The deciduous trees have shed their leaves, and a break in the woods feels like balm for body, mind, and soul. The fresh, crisp forest air is proven to strengthen the immune system, and gentle movement outdoors refreshes and energizes. Without leaves, the trees reveal their essence, and if you take your time and let your thoughts wander, you can discover true works of art in the treetops. Frost, icy crystals, and the first snowflakes often add to this picture, creating a magical atmosphere in the Advent forest.
Especially at this time of year, it feels good to pause and carve out small moments of rest in a busy daily routine.
That’s why I invite you to experience nature with intention—through the Forest Advent Calendar (scroll down). Behind each little door is a moment of (forest) respite: gentle forest-bathing practices for your next walk in the woods, short forest meditations, recipes, nature-inspired prompts, and many other ideas. A small daily retreat, whether in the forest or at home, for a peaceful and reflective Advent season.
If you would like to treat yourself to a longer pre-Christmas break in the forest, feel free to contact me, and we’ll find a suitable date for your forest-bathing session in December—whether alone, as a pair, with friends, or as a team.
